Did you know that Mother's Day was first introduced in Philadelphia in 1905 by Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honor her mother Ann Jarvis – a woman dedicated to peace and social work? Anna believed that a mother is the person who has done more for us than anyone else, and therefore wanted to give mothers their own day to be recognized. After a few years, the initiative grew into a broader celebration. In Sweden, Mother's Day was celebrated for the first time in 1919, initiated by Cecilia Bååth-Holmberg, inspired by the tradition from the USA. Already the following year, a booklet was published with instructions on how all mothers should be celebrated on their own day.
